BYU's run game is the big question before Saturday's rivalry game at Utah
The Daily Provo team
If you're watching Saturday's rivalry game, keep an eye on BYU's ground attack. Since the Cougars lost running back LJ Martin to an apparent leg injury, their rushing has steadily declined, bottoming out at 1.6 yards per carry in the 27-20 win over Arizona State. The Daily Herald's beat reporter graded the running backs a D for that game.
“I'd say it's too soon to say if he's going to be ready by Saturday.”
Martin, the reigning Big 12 offensive player of the year, had averaged 7.8 yards per carry. Arizona State had been allowing more than 146 rushing yards per game before Saturday. The defense did its part: BYU finished with six sacks, the most in the Kalani Sitake era.
