  • On Tuesday, Aug. 5, Mountain Land Charities and Neuroworx hosted an adaptive ski day at Last Chance Lakes in Vernon, Tooele County where people with physical disabilities enjoyed water skiing. The event provided trained drivers and licensed physical therapists—ensuring a safe and fun experience for all involved.  Deseret News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Hydrologists say Utah’s reservoirs are at 69 percent capacity while three key reservoirs are near 20 to 30 percent and record low mountain soil moisture raises concerns that winter runoff may suffer if a wet fall does not come; the state water director advises cutting back on water use—residents should conserve water until conditions improve.  KUTV

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Utah Attorney General Derek Brown co-led a bipartisan group of 50 state and territorial attorneys general who signed a letter to U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi urging the Justice Department to step up enforcement against illegal offshore gaming—operations linked to money laundering and human trafficking. The letter noted that unregulated sites put consumers at risk and lead to billions in lost tax revenue each year.  Deseret News
  • Utah law now requires apps and websites to check a user’s age by asking for proof like a driver’s license or selfie so kids are blocked from harmful content. The rule links minors’ accounts to a parent’s and sets a $1,000 fine for each violation—parents may sue companies starting in 2027 if they break the rules.  Standard-Examiner
