Hydrologists say Utah’s reservoirs are at 69 percent capacity while three key reservoirs are near 20 to 30 percent and record low mountain soil moisture raises concerns that winter runoff may suffer if a wet fall does not come; the state water director advises cutting back on water use—residents should conserve water until conditions improve.
Utah Attorney General Derek Brown co-led a bipartisan group of 50 state and territorial attorneys general who signed a letter to U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi urging the Justice Department to step up enforcement against illegal offshore gaming—operations linked to money laundering and human trafficking. The letter noted that unregulated sites put consumers at risk and lead to billions in lost tax revenue each year.
Utah law now requires apps and websites to check a user’s age by asking for proof like a driver’s license or selfie so kids are blocked from harmful content.
