- ➤ Throughout 2025, Utah Valley’s residents showed strong community spirit by cleaning up a Provo meetinghouse mudslide on Aug. 27, honoring a young victim in Pleasant Grove, and hosting benefit and youth challenges to support neighbors in need. Daily Herald
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ Utah’s state gas tax rate will drop from 38.5 to 37.9 cents per gallon on Jan. 1 as the Utah State Tax Commission reviews past 36-month fuel prices (using a 14.2% cap on wholesale prices), which means residents will pay less at the pump. Deseret News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Utah will receive $195 million as its first-year grant from the federal Rural Health Transformation Program to improve rural healthcare, expand mental health services, and boost telehealth. The state’s Health Department will manage the funds while using some for new care models (including chronic disease management). Deseret News

- ➤ BYU defensive coordinator Jay Hill is expected to join Michigan’s coaching staff soon, prompting the Cougars to consider internal candidates such as cornerbacks coach Jernaro Gilford and special teams coordinator Kelly Poppinga.
