SPORTS NEWS

  • Michigan will hire former Utes coach Kyle Whittingham on a five-year contract to help rebuild its troubled football program, reports say. Whittingham, whose 21-season run at Utah ends on Dec. 31, is a Provo High School graduate (official details are expected shortly).  Standard-Examiner
  • Profiles of five Utah athletes highlight achievements in skiing, ultramarathon, cycling, hiking and swimming.   • After stepping down as Utah's head coach following 21 years, Kyle Whittingham emerged as Michigan’s top candidate for the open coaching job, with deal talks ongoing.
