COMMUNITY NEWS

  • This weekend, Jaymes Martinez and the W.O.W. Car Community distributed Thanksgiving meals to over 50 families in Murray—serving meals from noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday while showcasing vintage cars to honor a shared love of classic rides.  FOX 13

CRIME NEWS

  • Utah woman Danielle Staley (of Holladay) was found safe and uninjured on Sunday in California after she disappeared near Rio Del Mar State Beach on November 6, and officials credit community help for her quick location.  KUTV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Ongoing measles outbreaks in the U.S. are putting the country’s measles-free status at risk as 1,723 lab-confirmed cases have been reported this year and Utah reported 87 cases mostly among unvaccinated people—officials are urging vaccination and monitoring new infections closely.  Deseret News
  • The Environmental Protection Agency announced last week that Provo and Salt Lake City now meet federal fine particulate standards after 15 years on the non-attainment list—marking a significant improvement—while local doctors warn residents to use air purifiers and limit outdoor activity as inversion season nears.  FOX 13

SPORTS NEWS

  • At Nippert Stadium on Saturday, Cincinnati fans chanted offensive religious slurs at BYU and its church while the public address announcer urged fans to stop—chants were recorded and shared online. BYU beat Cincinnati 26-14 during the game.  Deseret News
  • A Gardner Policy Institute study found that Utah college sports generated hundreds of millions in economic impact and built community bonds beyond ticket sales. The report from six public schools based on 2024 data shows that sports programs created over 3,000 jobs and added lasting social capital to the state.  Deseret News
  • The BYU Cougars beat Cincinnati 26 to 14 on November 22nd with LJ Martin rushing for 222 yards and scoring two touchdowns. Coach Kalani Sitake said the team is focused on winning next Saturday against UCF in Provo to secure a spot in the Big 12 championship game.  Deseret News
