ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Six individuals, including four EMS personnel and the driver of a Toyota Tacoma, were seriously injured in Provo when the pickup truck collided with an ambulance en route to the hospital.  FOX 13
  • Two 17-year-olds were hospitalized, one in serious condition, after being struck by a vehicle in Provo, Utah.  ABC4

CRIME NEWS

  • In Provo, a standoff during an eviction led to an evacuation when noises mistaken for gunshots were found to be caused by an individual swinging a billiards ball against a wall.  KUTV
  • Peterson Drew Matheson pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree felony manslaughter for his involvement in a June 2023 road rage crash in Eagle Mountain, resulting in two fatalities.  KUTV
  • Kole Glen Brimhall, a Utah County sales agent, admitted in federal court to defrauding investors by selling fraudulent investment contracts related to 'Alpha Automated Stores' without a license, affecting around 130 clients over two years.  ABC4

  • The Provo City School District introduces a new policy to regulate the use of electronic devices such as cellphones by students during school hours to minimize distractions and enhance the educational experience, effective from Jan. 7, 2025.  Daily Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Utah and 17 other states filed a lawsuit against the SEC, arguing that states should regulate the cryptocurrency industry instead of the federal agency.  Deseret News
  • UDOT is on schedule with the Mountain View Corridor project in northwest Utah County, which will improve traffic flow and include new infrastructure like bridges and pedestrian paths, aiming for completion of a key phase by early 2026.  Daily Herald
