Good morning, Provo. Here's your local news at a glance for Friday, the 14th of November.

EDUCATION NEWS

These factors confirm that college in the state is a relative bargain compared to other states.  Deseret News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Utah SNAP customers will receive full November benefits as the federal government reopens after its longest shutdown. Deposits will appear today for those usually paid on the 5th or 11th—while customers on the 15th will get their funds as scheduled.  Deseret News

SPORTS NEWS

  • Utah ski resorts such as Brian Head and Solitude have delayed their openings to November 21 and November 19 due to warm temperatures and a lack of early snow; meteorologist Chris Tomer forecasts light snow tonight and heavy accumulation from Sunday through next Tuesday — with Little and Big Cottonwood canyons expecting 10 to 20 inches and Brian Head 12 to 18 inches.  Deseret News
  • International winter sports groups have opposed World Athletics' proposal to add cross-country running and cyclocross to future Winter Games planned for 2030 and 2034 in Utah, saying the changes will hurt the Games' unique identity—alleging that sticking to traditional sports keeps the Winter Olympics distinct. Utah’s Olympic organizers said they will follow the IOC's review as discussions continue—keeping the focus on established winter sports.  Deseret News
