ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Officials evacuated Traverse Mountain Elementary and nearby homes on Tuesday at 11:21 a.m.—after a contractor hit a gas line—then Enbridge Gas secured the leak and confirmed that all buildings were safe, and the evacuation order was lifted in the afternoon with no injuries reported.  Daily Herald

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Utah Warriors announced they will not join the 2026 Major League Rugby season and suspended all club operations after rapid changes the past week. The organization said it will continue supporting local rugby — sharing future plans soon.  KUTV
  • The College Football Playoff Selection Committee released the first top 25 rankings Tuesday night with BYU ranked No. 7 and Utah at No. 13—BYU posted an 8—0 record with a 5—0 Big 12 mark while Utah, at 7—2, hopes to climb the rankings as the season goes on.  KUTV
  • World Athletics President Sebastian Coe said he wants to add a cross-country running race to the Winter Olympics, which may appear in Utah’s 2034 Games if the IOC approves the change—his comments in New York followed discussions to add such events to the 2030 Winter Games in the French Alps to bring more nations into winter sports.  Deseret News
