  • The First Presidency announced that the Lindon Utah Temple will host an open house from March 12 through April 11, excluding April 4 and Sundays, and it will be dedicated on May 3 — the broadcast will serve temple district members.  KUTV

CRIME NEWS

  • A domesticated duck in Spring Lake was found with a blow dart lodged in its head on Saturday—rescuers from Wasatch Wanderers took the injured bird to a vet where it was euthanized due to its severe condition.  FOX 13

CULTURE NEWS

  • Recent data shows that Latter-day Saint youth remain highly engaged with their faith, with most saying religion is very important and many attending church weekly—contrasting with national trends that show growing disbelief among young people—while increases in religious education and missionary work point to ongoing vibrant participation.  Deseret News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Provo City owns 160 acres in South Fork Canyon that supplies spring water and fresh wells for residents—city leaders plan to vote in December on a conservation easement for Bunnell’s Fork to protect water quality and open space.  Daily Herald
  • DWR professionals and volunteer anglers used electrofishing on Oct 27 to harvest hundreds of fish from the lower Provo River between Wildwood and Vivian Park (they measured rainbow, brown, cutthroat trout and mountain whitefish to assess river health).  Daily Herald

HEALTH NEWS

  • Today, a Utah-based AI company and scientists at ARUP Laboratories announced a new tool that quickly detects intestinal parasites in stool samples more accurately than traditional methods—researchers validated the model with over 4,000 positive samples from labs around the world to improve early diagnosis. This breakthrough may change how labs identify parasitic infections and enhance treatment options.  Deseret News

  • Weber High alum Connor Howe made his PGA Tour debut at the Bank of Utah Championship at Black Desert Resort and finished tied for 56th, earning $13,860. He played with his twin brother as his caddie (joining other local players with sponsor exemptions) in a strong home-state showing.  Standard-Examiner
  • Utah’s Olympic organizers for the 2034 Winter Games are in New York City this week to watch Team USA athletes prepare for the 2026 Winter Games in Italy and to learn how to engage fans better—organizer Fraser Bullock said they will use these ideas to plan for the future. They will also meet with congressional leaders in Washington to seek support for transport and security for upcoming events.  Deseret News
  • Olympic gold medalist Lindsey Vonn now uses her ski career to help girls build strength by hosting Strong Girls Camps in Park City—nearly 100 girls aged 10 to 14 attended a recent camp to learn about physical and mental confidence.  KUTV
  • On Oct 25, BYU football beat Iowa State 41 to 27 at Jack Trice Stadium. The team came back from a 14-point deficit and was led by freshman quarterback Bear Bachmeier who threw for 307 yards, two touchdowns and ran for 49 yards — keeping the Cougars unbeaten — despite injuries.  Deseret News
