COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Utah City development is partnering with Peloton to include Peloton Spaces with Bikes and Row equipment in its new residential buildings – a move to boost wellness and community connection. The development also announced that Bella's Market, the first grocery store in Vineyard in 100 years, will open on Nov. 15.  Daily Herald

BUSINESS NEWS

  • On October 23, business leaders from Utah & Australia met at Sydney's Macquarie Group headquarters as part of the World Trade Center Utah Trade Mission to New Zealand and Australia to explain why Utah is a strong place for global business. Gov. Spencer Cox and panelists from mining, aerospace, and technology praised Utah’s top economic rankings & stable business environment for investors.  Deseret News

  • Children's picture book Pippa and Poppy’s European Adventure was published by co-founder Tiffany Rosenhan to honor travel blogger Elise Caffee, who died in a car accident in Mexico in March. Rosenhan said the book reflects Caffee’s legacy and inspires family travel through her work at Jumelle Press.  Deseret News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Utah is planning to repurpose old coal power sites into new energy hubs as part of Gov. Spencer Cox's Operation Gigawatt, which aims to double energy production in the next decade. Experts say using existing power plant infrastructure to support fusion and nuclear projects may boost local job opportunities as coal use declines.  Deseret News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Food stamp benefits will run out next month for about 87,000 Utah households after federal funding pauses amid the shutdown, leaving residents like Rose Wakeham (28) to worry about having to quit school for full-time work. The state said it cannot cover the gap and local food pantries expect more demand as costs rise and many turn to extra measures such as donating plasma.  Standard-Examiner

HEALTH NEWS

  • The Utah Women & Leadership Project at Utah State University released a report titled “Cosmetic Surgery and Body Image Among Utah Women: A 2025 Update” that studies beauty views among Utah women. The research found that 96% of girls (aged 14-19) experienced appearance-based cyberbullying and noted high regional rates of cosmetic searches and plastic surgeons, indicating strong social pressure on body image.  FOX 13
  • A voluntary recall removed over 6 million eggs after salmonella was detected at Black Sheep Egg Company's Arkansas facility, and the FDA classified the affected products as high risk. Utah officials said the recall does not affect local egg supply + they advise safe handling practices to prevent illness.  Deseret News
  • On Oct. 22, Primary Children’s Hospital in Lehi raised over $642 million—more than its $500 million goal—to fund new programs and future projects. The funds will help add services such as behavioral health and support plans to expand care in Nevada and Montana.  Deseret News

  • Walker Kessler led the Jazz to a 129—108 win over the Clippers on October 22, scoring 22 points and grabbing nine rebounds; Lauri Markkanen and Brice Sensabaugh each added 20 points, setting a season-opening team record.  Standard-Examiner
  • Utah Mammoth's Logan Cooley recorded a natural hat trick and added an assist in the first period yesterday to lead his team to a 7-4 win over the St. Louis Blues — his first career four-point game that extended Utah’s winning streak to five.  Standard-Examiner
