- ➤ Yesterday, economist Mark Zandi spoke at a seminar and said that federal tariffs and strict immigration rules slowed the U.S. job market while Utah’s diverse economy and investment in artificial intelligence kept the state strong—he warned that more policy changes could hurt markets. He explained that although the nation was struggling, Utah did better because of its mix of jobs and strong community ties. Deseret News

- ➤ Brigham Young University opened a time capsule buried in 1976 during its sesquicentennial celebration on Oct. 16th. The capsule held items like a crisp $5 bill, a tape measure, a gavel from President Oaks, a recording by Harvey Fletcher, letters from faculty, a football jersey once worn in a game and a jar of cinnamon bears — a classic treat.
