- ➤ Community Action Services and Food Bank received a $30,000 donation Monday—October 6—from the Utah Association of Realtors and its local chapter to fund its free learning center for homebuyer education and financial literacy classes that help people gain stable housing. Daily Herald
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fire crews made progress on the Cherry Fire burning in Hobble Creek Canyon last weekend by mapping it at 540 acres and reaching 73% containment—rain and cooler temperatures slowed its growth while Utah County Emergency Management lifted evacuation orders. Local firefighters will now monitor hotspots along the fire’s edge. Deseret News

- ➤ After lawmakers chose a congressional map in the state’s redistricting process, plaintiffs submitted two alternative maps to Judge Dianna Gibson as part of an ongoing court case. Briefs are due by Oct. 17 — and a final map will be selected by Nov. 10 ahead of the 2026 elections. Daily Herald

- ➤ During the state boys golf championships on Tuesday in Utah County, West Field's sophomore Mack Herzog shot 5-under for a share of fifth and junior Ethan Luna finished eighth at TalonsCove Golf Course, helping the team finish third overall with a score of 591. - ➤ The Utah Jazz released their broadcast schedule for the 2025-26 NBA season — fans can catch over 80 games on KJZZ-TV 14 using an antenna or cable providers and enjoy post-game highlights and game replays with no commercials, while the season tips off on October 22. KUTV
