CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ After President Russell M. Nelson died Saturday night, the church entered an apostolic interregnum as the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles led by President Oaks now runs church affairs. A new prophet is expected to be set apart after Nelson’s funeral on Tuesday Oct 7 — a tradition that marks a leadership change. Deseret News
- ➤ General conference this weekend is unique because the Twelve Apostles are leading the sessions after President Nelson died on Sept. 27 — President Dallin H. Oaks now presides, marking the first time since 1951 that the quorum has led. Saturday’s sessions were held at 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 6 p.m. while today’s sessions begin at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Deseret News

- ➤ A Buckley Institute study found college students are divided on support for socialism and capitalism, and BYU students and professors offered their views—many citing free speech and mental health concerns.
