ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A former dance teacher lost the use of her legs after she was hit from behind by a semi-truck nearly two weeks ago when she pulled over to the side of the freeway in Spanish Fork—she now faces a long recovery with serious spinal cord, rib, and lung injuries.  KUTV

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Utah is facing a severe drought—100% of the state is dry and nearly 76% is in severe drought, leading to a quick drop in reservoir levels. The Division of Water Resources says storage is now around 67% compared to 83% last year—warning that water will remain scarce until cooler weather and the end of the irrigation season in October.  Deseret News

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Crews with UDOT began work on reconstructing the University Avenue Bridge in Provo—starting demolition on the west side in late October while drivers face lane restrictions. The project will add new bike lanes, wider sidewalks, and better sight lines in two phases and is set to finish in fall 2027.  KUTV

HEALTH NEWS

  • Actor Zachary Levi and his nonprofit NerdHQ raised over $80,000 during a three-night series of FanX events in Utah to fund free therapy for those in need. He hosted an intimate Q&A, screening, and karaoke night — sharing his personal struggles to boost mental health awareness.  Deseret News
  • Utah health officials have confirmed 44 measles cases in 2025, with 30 in the southwest near the Arizona outbreak marking a sharp rise from zero cases in 2024. Local sites such as Budge Clinic, Water Canyon High School and Chick-fil-A are under symptom watch; plus, officials urge parents to vaccinate children given over 10% of kindergartners have vaccine exemptions.  Deseret News
