- ➤ Students at UVU returned to campus one week after the Charlie Kirk shooting as classes resumed and care stations were set up—as police and staff monitored safety—while a Vigil for Unity will be held Friday at UCCU Center and a fundraiser for a memorial statue is planned. Deseret News

- ➤ The Church of Jesus Christ will update the Provo MTC by rebuilding its cafeteria and administration buildings—plans include designing two new buildings to improve the missionary experience. The training center will remain fully operational as work continues over several years. Deseret News

- ➤ A WalletHub study ranked Utah second best for teachers with high starting salaries and a 50% pay increase over the last decade—though it reported that low spending per student and large class sizes remain challenges. Deseret News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A new report from the Utah Division of Waste Management and Radiation Control outlines four ways to boost glass recycling in the state, noting that while recycling is strong near the Wasatch Front, many rural counties lack services—lawmakers are expected to review options such as including recycled glass in state building projects and using inland ports to transport glass waste. The study, which complies with HB177, will continue through early 2026 as officials address costs and logistics for expanded recycling. Deseret News

- ➤ Provo residents are upset with the Utah Transit Authority and Utah Department of Transportation for not communicating clearly that condos near the FrontRunner track will be demolished — 16 homes will be removed while nearby residents face more noise and lower home values. Gardner Policy Institute showed that in rural Utah, mothers paid more and had to travel farther for maternal care — hospital closures and low specialist access increased costs.
