CRIME NEWS

  • Utahns gathered Friday night in Provo to honor Charlie Kirk—who was shot and killed on Wednesday—as university students recalled the loud pop and ensuing chaos while urging leaders to reduce political violence.  FOX 13

  • Erika Kirk, the widow of Charlie Kirk, said she will keep his conversation tours going so his legacy stays alive. Supporters at a BYU memorial event praised her plans—many believe the tours will grow in support across the country.  FOX 13

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Utah’s redistricting lawsuit is back before the Utah Supreme Court as legislative attorneys appeal a ruling that struck down the 2021 congressional map drawn without following Proposition 4. Anti-gerrymandering plaintiffs called the Legislature’s claim of an emergency ironic—Judge Gibson amended her order and set deadlines including a Sept. 25 deadline for a new map, a public comment period until Oct. 5, and a final decision by Nov. 10.  Daily Herald
