- ➤ An 11-year-old in Midvale with AMC had his electric wheelchair stolen last Tuesday and is set to get a new one. Local non-profits and companies — including Compassion Mobility from Spanish Fork — are helping his family find a chair he can grow into and control with his stronger elbow. FOX 13
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fire crews battled a small wildfire in western Utah County on Friday that burned about 50 acres, and no structures were threatened. Firefighters fully contained the Monroe Canyon Fire in Sevier County, which burned 73,721 acres, and fire restrictions expired Saturday—officials warned that wildfire risk remains high due to the ongoing drought. - ➤ Utah leaders filed an emergency petition with the Utah Supreme Court on Friday seeking a stay of the 3rd District Court's order to redraw congressional maps by Sept. 25—arguing the order harms the Legislature and conflicts with Proposition 4. They requested a decision by Sept. 15 and for HB2004 to remain in place until all appeals are resolved. Deseret News
