- ➤ After The Church ended its 105-year partnership with Scouting in 2019, Utah troops changed to a model where youths join on their own and more community sponsors lead them. In 2024, the Crossroads of the West Council reported 6,107 youth participants—a 3.35% increase over last year with about 20% being girls. Deseret News

- ➤ John Shin, a Utah violinist originally from South Korea, was detained by immigration officials on Aug. 18 and is held in a federal detention center in Aurora—supporters launched a letter campaign and held a benefit concert on Monday, and his lawyer said he will seek bond at a hearing next Tuesday.
