  • Twelve Utah authors, including Brandon Sanderson, Shannon Hale and Sarah M Eden, will release new books this fall. The titles range—covering fantasy, romance, mystery and children’s stories—from publication dates of Aug. 20 to Dec. 9.  Deseret News

  • Utah opened its season with a 43-10 win over UCLA at the Rose Bowl on Aug.30—quarterback Devon Dampier led the offense while a strong defense recorded two sacks and an interception to keep the Bruins in check.  Deseret News
  • BYU quarterback Bear Bachmeier threw for five first-half touchdowns in his first start as the Cougars defeated Portland State 69 to 0 at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo on August 30—64,494 fans attended the game.  Deseret News
