ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Three people were hospitalized after a multi-vehicle crash near the Provo River Bottoms area, and firefighters extricated a trapped victim at about 6:45 a.m.—the rescue took 10 minutes as crews cut part of the vehicle, and officials did not provide details on the victims’ conditions.  KUTV

CULTURE NEWS

  • David Channer said the new hymnbook will only include songs with full legal rights so the church can print, change and perform them—this means some old hymns are left out due to copyright issues—The project started in 2018.  Deseret News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • BYU student Kelvin Wang discovered a new origami bloom pattern that folds flat, partly into a round shape, or into layered forms for space tools, medical devices, and building designs. His work — published in the Proceedings of the Royal Society — will guide tests to build strong and small devices for engineering projects.  Deseret News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • A wildfire burned nearly 50 acres in the foothills east of Mapleton late Friday, and fire crews from over 15 agencies stopped its spread by 8 a.m. Saturday — police confirmed the fire was human-caused and the juveniles responsible are under investigation with no evacuations issued for nearby residents.  KUTV

  • Former Colorado lineman Isaiah Jatta earned the starting left tackle spot on BYU's offensive line for 2025 after leaving Boulder to join BYU and embrace a new culture in Provo. He is fully healthy and feels at home with the team—trusting his coaches' process while also focusing on football and mental health studies.  Deseret News
