GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Utah Olympic organizers have booked sport venues, secured over 21,000 hotel rooms and raised nearly $150 million for the 2034 Winter Games while planning to reuse venues from 2002 and add around 3,000 more rooms. The committee detailed plans on Capitol Hill yesterday—focusing on a one-hour travel time radius, volunteer recruitment and key revenue streams without taxpayer funds.  FOX 13
  • Utah’s Olympic organizers told state lawmakers that many people want to volunteer for the 2034 Winter Games even though only 25,000 unpaid spots are available and volunteer selections will not begin until about 2032—organizers urged Utahns to gain experience by helping at local sporting events and noted that online pre-registration may start next year. They also said that the Games will use only private funding with 34,000 tickets priced at $34 for Soldier Hollow events and nearly $150 million raised of a $300 million goal, ensuring no taxpayer money is used.  Deseret News
