BUSINESS NEWS

  • Flight Leaders Training Academy will open a new flight school in Spanish Fork this September to speed up FAA flight checks and reduce wait times for student pilots. The facility (with a restaurant, coffee shop, park and pavilion) is set to help pilots finish training in about 14 months and ease the pilot shortage.  Deseret News

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The Utah State Board of Education launched the Every Day Counts campaign to reduce chronic absenteeism in K-12 schools by offering tools for families and educators—such as attendance ambassadors—to help students attend regularly. This initiative aims to lower missed school days and boost classroom engagement.  Deseret News

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Associated Press preseason poll released Monday shows that BYU and Utah received 156 and 144 votes, putting them just outside the Top 25 if the poll had 27 teams—Texas led the list with 1552 points.  FOX 13
  • At BYU’s first fall camp scrimmage on Saturday at LaVell Edwards Stadium, the veteran defense outperformed an offense that struggled with penalties and errors—coaches noted that three quarterbacks got equal reps. Head coach Sitake and offensive coordinator Roderick said they will begin narrowing the QB competition soon, with a decision expected as early as Monday.  Deseret News
