GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ An analysis of Google search data found that people search over 2,000 times a month for what to call Utah residents — this led state lawmakers to adopt 'Utahn' as the official demonym to ease confusion. Deseret News
- ➤ Utah State Sen. President Stuart Adams denied claims that he changed statutory rape laws to help his relative and said the law remains unchanged — it is not retroactive and does not lower the legal age of consent. Some lawmakers urged his resignation, but Adams dismissed the news as politically driven misinformation. KUTV
- ➤ Provo leaders hosted a bilingual open house at the Provo City Library on August 7th to encourage the Latino and Spanish-speaking community to take a more active role in city government.
