ECONOMY NEWS

  • A study by Ernst & Young for the Utah Lake Authority showed that visitors spent nearly $75 million last year, contributing $56.8 million to the GDP and $9.2 million in state and local taxes. • Beef prices have increased as ground beef costs are up 10% and steaks are 12% higher due to a nationwide drop in the cattle herd by 11 million over the last five years. In Utah, cattle numbers declined from 820,000 in 2020 to 740,000 this year — drought and a parasite in Mexico have worsened the shortage— and experts warn that prices could climb further if tariffs change.  KUTV

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Recent graduates are using AI tools like ChatGPT to tailor their resumes and cover letters, with BYU alum Katarina Martinic using the tool to match her applications to specific job descriptions—career experts note that networking still plays a crucial role in landing interviews. The environmentalists said they disagreed with the ruling even as state leaders hinted they might refile a similar case in a lower court.  Daily Herald
