  • Firefighter Dale Hagemeyer returned to his burned home in Pine Valley after fleeing the Forsyth Fire and found it turned into a crater with all cherished memorabilia gone while he expressed deep frustration with the county’s unclear plans for recovery — leaving his wife and him facing a loss that goes beyond material property.  ABC4

  • Ann Johnson-Stone, a Springville resident who grew up in Manchester during World War Two, remembers how planting roses with her mother helped them feel hope—she now finds peace caring for her large garden.  ABC4

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Pest control experts report a rise in wasp activity in Utah yards — a trend linked to a mild winter, hot days, and increased humidity. Erik Maki of Service First Pest Management advises residents to close garbage lids, remove standing water, and call a professional if they find a nest — steps that help reduce wasp problems.  FOX 13
  • Farmers in the Great Salt Lake Basin said they feel unfairly blamed for the lake's decline even though water use has dropped and they warn that unrestrained growth is stressing both the lake and local farms. Researchers at USU interviewed about 20 farmers and noted they want a balanced approach to water conservation (emphasizing smarter building and water use) that protects both the lake and farming livelihoods.  Standard-Examiner
