ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ The Utah Department of Natural Resources warned Provo residents that boating and off-highway vehicle incidents increased this summer — with six incidents, including several boating-related deaths, occurring in a short time — and stressed the need for proper safety equipment. Over the Fourth of July weekend, DNR reported nine boating accidents and seven off-highway crashes and said it would increase patrols on waterways and trails to help keep people safe. KUTV
BUSINESS NEWS
- ➤ Pura Scents, a Utah company, has recalled 851,400 Smart Home Fragrance Diffusers with removable covers because the covers' magnets may come loose and pose a danger if swallowed (only models with five magnets are affected). The company tells users to throw away the cover and order a free replacement from its website (enter your device’s serial number) while keeping it away from children and pets. ABC4
CULTURE NEWS
- ➤ During Pioneer Day celebrations, Darren Parry (a Shoshone elder and former tribal chairman) told ABC4 that the holiday only shares one side of history as native people faced harm before the arrival of Mormon pioneers. He noted that while 102 Shoshones joined the LDS Church in May, events like the Bear River massacre mark a legacy that needs acknowledgment and healing. ABC4
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Rep. Burgess Owens introduced legislation on Pioneer Day to create a new post office in Saratoga Springs by transferring 20 acres of federal land—if passed, the post office will open within two years to provide faster, modernized mail services for the growing region. ABC4
- ➤ The U.S. Department of Agriculture announced on July 24th that Salt Lake City was chosen as one of five cities to receive federal employees as part of a move to bring staff closer to local customers—this plan aims to lower costs without causing layoffs. Utah senators Mike Lee and John Curtis welcomed the decision because it supports local farming and forest management. Deseret News

- ➤ Former Lehi High and BYU tight end Dallin Holker announced Tuesday that he is retiring from football after spending his rookie season with the Saints. He played 12 games with 3 receptions for 21 yards — a career that began at Lehi and turned professional — and he thanked his family for their support as he looks forward to his next chapter. - ➤ Former BYU quarterback Max Hall recalled his own fight to win the starting role and compared it to the current mix of McCae Hillstead, Treyson Bourguet, and Bear Bachmeier.
