- ➤ A study by Metro Analytics found that Utah Transit Authority services boosted the economy by creating 79,000 jobs and saving households $717 million in travel and maintenance costs. - ➤ Wildfires are burning across Utah, with the Monroe Canyon Fire in Sevier and Piute counties covering 8,646 acres and causing evacuations, while other fires in Sevier, Grand, San Juan, Garfield, Tooele and Washington counties range from 114 to 15,676 acres with varying containment levels — officials are monitoring the situation closely. - ➤ Brigham Young University researchers restarted their wildflower project at Rock Canyon Trailhead to reduce wildfire risk by removing invasive wheatgrass and replanting native seeds gathered by students. - ➤ Utah Valley University and the Bingham Foundation are partnering to open the Bingham Family Clinic on the West Campus—this free clinic will offer primary care, speciality appointments, dental hygiene and an on-site pharmacy to uninsured residents while giving students hands-on training—and it is expected to begin serving patients this winter.
