- ➤ Ace Bailey was drafted 5th overall by the Utah Jazz, but his camp—led by non-certified Omar Cooper—cancelled all pre-draft workouts, a move that might cost him future earnings if the issues persist. Bailey said he just wants to play basketball and the Jazz look forward to him joining Summer League this weekend. Deseret News
- ➤ Egor Demin, a BYU player, was picked eighth overall by the Nets on June 25 and hugged mentor Travis Hansen at the Barclays Center when his dream came true. Hansen said he knew Demin would succeed from a phone call at night — and Demin became the highest drafted Russian player in NBA history after working hard through setbacks. Deseret News
- ➤ Bear River softball won the 4A state championship on May 16th in Provo when junior Marsley Tisdol’s walkoff RBI gave the team a state-high 12 titles—head coach Jordan Theurer and the five seniors led a season that began with a 6 to 0 start and overcame tough playoff challenges.
