- ➤ Fireworks have been on sale since June 24th in Utah, and the American Red Cross has shared safety tips for a safe 4th of July celebration. The agency advises using public shows and alternatives (such as glow sticks) while following instructions on the packaging to help prevent home fires and injuries. ABC4
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ On Wednesday, a brush fire near Quail Valley Drive in the Provo foothills threatened homes before crews from five stations arrived at 10:30 a.m. —the flames were quickly put out with no structure damage or injuries reported and an investigation has begun to determine the cause. FOX 13
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Two death row cases from the 1980s in Utah are moving forward as a court ruled that Douglas Carter, tried in Provo for killing Eva Olesen, may get a new trial while Ralph Menzies, tied to Maurine Hunsaker’s murder, faces long delays in appeals—prompting family calls for faster justice. KUTV
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Utah health officials reported Tuesday that measles cases have risen to three after two unvaccinated adults were diagnosed in different parts of the state. Officials are investigating potential exposure sites in Orem and advising anyone who may have been exposed to watch for symptoms and call their health care provider. Standard-Examiner
