- ➤ At BYU’s Religious Freedom Annual Review on June 17th in Provo, researchers and religious leaders said emerging human flourishing studies linked regular religious involvement with better mental health and stronger social bonds + they stressed the need to protect religious freedom. Deseret News
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Utah hosted the Winter Games in 2002 and now state leaders plan to host the Winter Olympics and Paralympics in 2034; officials are planning upgrades for a $4 billion event — a sign of the state’s ongoing commitment to its Olympic legacy — as preparations continue. Deseret News
- ➤ Sen. Mike Lee and Rep. Celeste Maloy defended a proposal to create a nomination process for selling federally owned lands as part of a tax bill—environmental groups claim online maps exaggerate which lands may be sold. The proposal exempts protected areas and will require federal secretaries to consult local leaders and start nominations within 30 days of passage. Deseret News
