Good morning, Provo. Here's your local news at a glance for Thursday, the 19th of June.

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Utah Division of Wildlife Resources shared tips to avoid rattlesnakes during late spring and early summer, saying that the snakes are active at dawn and dusk in rocky areas and dry canyons. Residents should keep their dogs on a leash and stay at a safe distance (at least 10 feet) if they see a rattlesnake, and they should step off the trail to let the snake pass.  ABC4

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The U.S. Supreme Court ruled on Wednesday that local courts should handle pollution cases from Utah and Oklahoma by reversing the Tenth Circuit and remanding the cases for further review. Utah Attorney General Derek Brown praised the decision and said it reinforces state authority in regional pollution matters.  Deseret News
  • The U.S. Supreme Court sided with Oklahoma and Utah in an air quality case, ruling that local courts should hear challenges rather than sending them to Washington — a decision praised by Utah Attorney General Derek Brown for honoring local control on environmental matters.  FOX 13
