EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Since 2000, enrollment in the BYU network increased by nearly 100,000 students — largely due to BYU-Pathway Worldwide growing from 458 students in 2009 to over 80,000 this year. The system now serves more than 147,000 students compared to about 50,000 back then, a significant jump discussed at a panel meeting. Deseret News
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Maple Mountain’s Trey Thornton earned the 2025 Mr. Volleyball award for the second year after leading his team to two state championships — his strong play and leadership helped boost boys volleyball. He will join BYU men’s volleyball later this year and plans to serve a mission, leaving a lasting mark on local high school sports. Deseret News
- ➤ BYU senior Sami Oblad (from Stansbury Park) finished eighth in the 400-meter dash semifinals at the NCAA championships in Eugene with a time of 51.20 and advanced to the finals where she will hold the record as the highest-placing female sprinter in school history regardless of Saturday’s outcome.
