- ➤ Utah will host many events in June including festivals, farmers markets, concerts, theater productions and sports games from June 1 to June 30—residents can look forward to community celebrations in cities like Provo. Deseret News
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A 33-year-old Utah County man named William James Scharman was arrested after he used counterfeit gold bills—worth about $1.50 each—to pay for a $400 tattoo and a Subaru Forester, and he later returned the car key after his deception was discovered by authorities. KUTV
- ➤ South Jordan police arrested a 41-year-old man from Herriman—linked to the disappearance of 15-year-old Alisa Petrov—on May 28 after finding sexually explicit photos and videos of underage girls on his phone, and he now faces charges of sexual exploitation of a minor and enticing a minor. KUTV
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Governor Spencer Cox signed an executive order on May 28 to form the BUILD coordinating council, which will unite state agencies and local groups to plan for Utah’s continued growth. The council, led by Laura Hanson, will hold its first public meeting on July 22 at 9:30 a.m. at the Capitol—Blueprint for Utah’s Infrastructure, Land, and Development—to map out shared statewide goals.
