ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A 12-year-old boy was rescued after he went briefly unconscious in a bathtub in Eagle Mountain on May 23rd—Unified Fire & EMS arrived at 7:30 p.m. and he is now doing much better at the hospital.  ABC4

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Sundance Mountain Resort in Provo Canyon is expanding with a new high-speed quad lift called Electric Horseman Express scheduled to open for the 2026-27 season and 60 acres of new terrain with nine trails opening in 2025-26 — the move aims to attract destination skiers while keeping the local charm.  Deseret News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Bonneville Shoreline Trail (started in 1989) has connected communities along the Wasatch Front for over 30 years, stretching 170 miles today with plans to reach 400 miles through recent work in Herriman, Pleasant Grove, and Cache County. A bill introduced in March to study a National Scenic Trail designation (a move that may boost federal funding) shows growing state support as local hikers, bikers, and runners enjoy its mix of official and unfinished sections.  Deseret News

SPORTS NEWS

  • BYU announced that transfer guard Nate Pickens has joined the Cougars to play as a guard, saying he chose the program for its NBA resources and supportive fan environment after visiting on May 7. Pickens, a defensive specialist who averaged 9.8 points at UC Riverside, will join the team once his classes end at Riverside on June 10—an opportunity that fits his goal of playing professional basketball.  Deseret News
  • BYU football is building momentum in recruiting for the class of 2026 by securing nine commitments including prospects Terrance Saryon and Sefanaia Alatini. The program is chasing top recruit Ryder Lyons—who narrowed his choices to USC, Oregon and BYU—with a decision expected by mid-summer.  Deseret News
