  • Jackie Stevens restored the Veterans Memorial at Spanish Fork Cemetery—removing decay and repainting it ahead of Memorial Day weekend. The community will observe the memorial with a tribute on Monday at 10:30 a.m.  FOX 13

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Utah County’s McWane Ductile factory celebrated its 100th year on Friday, May 22 near Provo with a banquet for 300-plus employees and local leaders. General Manager Jared Ellison said the milestone marks a historic achievement that supports community infrastructure and local partnerships (including in Springville).  Daily Herald

CULTURE NEWS

  • Former BYU faculty member Jeff Strong studied faith disaffiliation among Latter-day Saints to examine how church culture influences belief. His research, described as pastoral, encourages respectful dialogue and introspection on community strengths and areas for growth.  Deseret News

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin joined Utah leaders on a boat tour Saturday at Great Salt Lake to assess the lake's challenges and plan new sensors for summer (aimed at improving water tracking). Local officials expect federal funding to support the initiative.  FOX 13

SPORTS NEWS

  • Three boys soccer teams captured state championships on Friday at Zions Bank Stadium (Herriman) as Lone Peak defeated Farmington 3-1 with Patrick Stevenson scoring a hat trick, Bountiful edged Maple Mountain in double overtime, and East beat Murray 2-1 to snap an undefeated season.  KUTV
