CULTURE NEWS

  • In Utah, communities honor veterans on Memorial Day by visiting soldiers' graves and decorating them with flags + flowers. The holiday began as Decoration Day and now celebrates local history from the Civil War to post-9/11 efforts.  Deseret News

FINANCE NEWS

  • Mortgage rates for a 30 year fixed home loan rose to 6.51% this week amid economic uncertainty (due to the Iran conflict) and are predicted to boost monthly payments for local homebuyers.  Deseret News

SPORTS NEWS

  • BYU athletic director Brian Santiago said that quick talks with Notre Dame and help from the Big 12 and ACC set up a football game in Provo on Oct. 17. Both schools expect more matchups in the future.  Deseret News
  • Coach Kalani Sitake hosted Tuesday's Kalani Classic at Timpanogos Golf Course in Provo as his staff wrapped recruiting visits and set up offers ahead of summer camps in June.
