- ➤ Taylor and Bailey Carlson run Cash Drop Utah and drop cash around the state to get people moving — finds happen in minutes — and they plan a big event in St. George with registration now open. Deseret News
ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ In Lehi, residents asked city officials for help after an intoxicated driver lost control on 300 West and drove into a backyard on Sunday morning — the driver was arrested and neighbors said they have long feared the road's dangers. KUTV
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ BYU announced on Monday that its School of Medicine will be built at the former Provo High School on West Campus to keep students near Utah Valley Hospital for clinical training — the board approved the decision and Intermountain Health will help support the school’s future, with plans to submit its accreditation application by August and open in fall 2027. - ➤ Shane Smeed, a Provo native, has served as Utah Tech’s president for two to three weeks and is shifting the university’s focus from budget cuts to a reinvestment plan in St. George—he met with faculty after a turbulent period under the previous administration. FOX 13
- ➤ BYU's Board of Trustees approved BYU West Campus, the former Provo High School site, for the planned BYU School of Medicine building, which will be near Utah Valley Hospital — students and staff at the College of Fine Arts and Communications will remain until a new BYU Arts Building is completed. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ An energy study shows that Hawaii residents pay about $213 a month for electricity while Utah residents pay around $85 because Hawaii relies on imported fuel and Utah uses a mix of local resources. Governor Spencer Cox has pushed plans to double electricity production in a decade — a move aimed at keeping energy costs low for local consumers. Deseret News
