GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On May 17th, delegates at the Utah GOP convention in Orem chose Rob Axson as party chair with 52% of the vote and voted down a rule to punish candidates who gather signatures. Axson said the party must work together to repeal SB54—Phil Lyman, who pushed for nullification, lost his bid for chair.  Deseret News

SPORTS NEWS

  • BYU basketball coach Kevin Young has set his 15-player roster for the 2025-26 season by adding transfers like Nate Pickens from UC Riverside and Tyler Mrus while keeping key players such as Richie Saunders and Keba Keita. The team will work together this summer to build on last season’s play—expectations are high for a strong campaign ahead.  Deseret News
  • The Utah Jazz ended lottery night with the No. 5 pick and now face tough choices on how to rebuild a team that has struggled in recent seasons — management must decide whether to build around a promising but unproven prospect or explore trade options while balancing rookie contracts and team options.
