- ➤ Utah County resident Jeremiah Joseph Evans—known as 'The Bull'—was sentenced today in Salt Lake City to 8 years in prison with an additional 3 years of supervised release and must pay $19,134,150 in restitution after pleading guilty to securities fraud and money laundering. Deseret News

- ➤ State leaders in Utah have asked Congress to relax federal rules so geothermal energy can help double power output in the next 10 years. A House energy subcommittee held a hearing Monday in Cedar City and Utah officials recommended more public land leasing and faster permit approvals (including drilling permits processed in 60 days) to fix delays. - ➤ Sen. John Curtis and Sen. Mark Kelly introduced bipartisan legislation on Tuesday to restore WIFIA eligibility—letting water districts use federal loans as local match funds—to boost water infrastructure as drought and poor snowpack strain supplies. - ➤ Kevin Bruder, the longtime president and CEO of the Utah Grizzlies, died Sunday at 56 while enjoying the outdoors—he led the team since 2005 and was known for his dedication to mentoring others. He is survived by his wife Susan and four children. Deseret News
