  • Nearly a year after Sgt. Bill Hooser’s death in 2024, his wife said blue ribbons are being tied around Santaquin to honor his memory. His daughter said she misses him but remembers him as a hero — a loving dad whose legacy lives on.  KUTV

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Four people were hospitalized after a pickup truck rolled off I-15 near Santaquin just before 6 p.m. on Sunday—one passenger sustained serious injuries while the driver and two other occupants had non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.  KUTV

CRIME NEWS

  • A UTA rail maintenance worker, Juan Madrid, died from injuries he sustained when an SUV struck him near 5900 South on April 24— the driver later turned himself in to Murray police.  Deseret News
  • Two people, Mercedesa Kvec, 22, and Sergiu Kvec, 23, were arrested for stealing over $12K at nearly 10 Target stores in Utah—authorities say the thefts began in September 2024 and continued in March and April as the investigation unfolds.  ABC4

HEALTH NEWS

  • Bradford Smith, who has ALS and lost his ability to speak, used Neuralink to type words with his eyes and have them read aloud—making him the first nonverbal patient to try the implant. He was the third person overall to test the device, developed by Elon Musk’s company, which now helps him talk with his family.  Deseret News

  • Justin Sterner, who walked on at BYU and served a mission in Samoa, is pitching for the Athletics, posting a 0.00 ERA in 15 outings after debuting with Tampa Bay in May 2024—teammates praise his hard work to keep his spot in the big leagues.  Deseret News
