ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • The Pleasant Grove community held a candlelight vigil on May 1 to support the family of 9-year-old Dalton Gibbs, who was fatally struck while crossing near his home on Tuesday—about a hundred residents gathered in remembrance and solidarity.  KUTV

CRIME NEWS

  • Provo police said vandals broke a glass panel, damaged organ keys and control boxes, and flipped a piano at the church meetinghouse on Tuesday at 650 E. Stadium Avenue — officers are reviewing surveillance videos and ask anyone with information to call 801-852-6210.  Deseret News
  • Provo police are asking for help after several juveniles were robbed at gunpoint near 500 N Independence Avenue between 11 a.m. and 12 p.m. today; authorities reported at least two Hispanic young adult males in white shirts and sports jerseys driving a dark gray Chevy Malibu (2014 or 2015 with paint damage near the driver-side front wheel) and urged anyone with information to call 801-852-6210.  ABC4

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • On May 1, just after midnight, seismograph stations recorded a 3.9 earthquake about 5 km west of Independence that was felt in Provo, Springville, Orem, and parts of Salt Lake City—no damage has been reported as officials continue to monitor the situation.  FOX 13
  • An earthquake measuring 3.7 shook Wasatch County early on May 1 and was felt along the Wasatch Front in areas such as Spanish Fork, North Ogden, and Heber City—no damage was reported. More than 2,000 people in 63 zip codes submitted reports to the US Geological Survey.  KUTV
