ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Utah water experts say most residents do not need to water their lawns because the grass is still benefiting from recent storms and soil moisture. They advise waiting until Mother’s Day when temperatures reach the 70s, except in Washington and Grand counties—where watering might be needed sooner. Deseret News
- ➤ The Utah Lake Authority has launched the Utah Lake is My Lake campaign to update old views of the lake with humorous ads featuring two German tourists played by Studio C actors and to share its recent progress in reducing harmful algae and invasive carp. The campaign will also include events such as an Earth Day Planting Party on April 26 at 9 a.m.—an effort to boost community engagement and highlight the lake’s improvements. Deseret News
- ➤ The Utah Lake Authority launched the 'Utah Lake is My Lake' campaign to boost water quality and reduce invasive species like phragmites and carp—officials say the effort will improve public access and change local views of this long underappreciated lake. Mayor Michelle Kaufusi asked for more time to review alternatives and will present revised proposals early next month—seeking a solution that balances repair needs with residents’ financial concerns.
