COMMUNITY NEWS
- ➤ Provo officials warned residents that coyotes have been seen repeatedly in the foothills after two cats were found dead. They advised removing outside food, bird feeders, and garbage and securing animal pens (a measure suggested to reduce coyote visits) as coyotes tend to avoid humans. ABC4
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A Utah judge ruled that the Utah Fits All scholarship program was unconstitutional last week, leaving families uncertain about their next steps. Advocates plan to appeal the decision as the program currently provides $8,000 per student to 10,000 students—while critics argue it diverts public money from schools. FOX 13
- ➤ A judge ruled the Utah Fits All Scholarship unconstitutional, leaving teacher salaries and scholarship benefits in limbo and prompting a status hearing on April 23 to review plans before teacher raises begin on July 1—if the program is not upheld, raises may drop from about $10,000 to nearly $5,000. The state plans to appeal the decision and will update as the process unfolds. ABC4

- ➤ Gov. Spencer Cox issued an executive order on Monday to boost Utah's wildfire preparedness ahead of fire season—establishing a Working Group on Wildfire Management that includes state agency heads who will complete a report by June 1 on wildfire risks and evacuation plans. Deseret News
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ A new blood test has been launched today at ARUP Laboratories—on the University of Utah campus—to detect Alzheimer’s pathology in patients aged 60 and older. Local experts say the test offers a less invasive alternative to spinal taps and amyloid PET scans and may be used alongside new FDA-approved treatments. FOX 13
- ➤ Intermountain Health broke ground in Saratoga Springs on a new multispecialty clinic that will include a dedicated cancer center along with services such as OB/GYN care, cardiology, and chemotherapy.
