ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A woman fell at Bridal Veil Falls in February, spending weeks unconscious and months in the hospital before returning home about a month ago; she now warns other hikers to prepare for unexpected conditions as she awaits upcoming skull surgery + relies on a GoFundMe campaign.  KUTV
  • After several highway accidents occurred last Friday on I-80 and I-15, UDOT crews said unpredictable spring storms prevented pre-treating roads because pavement temperatures remained above freezing. Officials urged drivers to slow down and adjust driving in changing conditions (drivers should exercise caution).  FOX 13

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Provo Burger opened on March 25 at 3225 N. Canyon Road, taking over the historic site of Ripple’s Drive-in and offering quality burgers+shakes made with local ingredients. The new owners plan community events like a battle of the bands and open mic nights to bring neighbors together.  Daily Herald

CULTURE NEWS

  • A guide lists summer festivals and community days statewide including art walks + music, theater and cultural events. The schedule details dates and venues to help local residents plan outings.  Deseret News
  • The refurbished rocket stands at Art City Auto Body in Springville as a reminder of the historic Suntana Raceway. Owner Daniel Arce restored it with red, white + blue markings near the split of U.S. 89 and South State Street to honor local racing memories.  Daily Herald

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Utah public schools removed four books (Life is Funny, The Haters, The Bluest Eyes, and People Kill People) after Spring break from Davis, Jordan, Washington, and Tooele districts, raising the total banned titles to 36.  FOX 13

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • UDOT announced a 14-hour closure of U.S. 189 in Provo Canyon on Sunday from 1 a.m. to 3 p.m. for pavement repairs related to a widening project, and drivers are encouraged to use I-80 as an alternate route while I-15 sees summer lane reductions for bridge repairs.  Deseret News

  • Utah Mammoth have set their Round 1 playoff schedule as they face Vegas Golden Knights in the Stanley Cup playoffs - they will open with two road games in Las Vegas on Sunday, Apr. 19 at 8 p.m. and Tuesday, Apr. 21 at 7:30 p.m.  KUTV
