CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Two Utah men were charged by the U.S. Justice Department one day after being repatriated from the Congo for allegedly joining a failed coup attempt overseas while another man was charged for supporting the effort without traveling—adding to growing legal concerns over the incident. FOX 13
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Utah Valley University was honored with its first Bicycle Friendly University Award by the League of American Bicyclists and asked for community ideas to improve bike parking and transportation access. The university hosted a workshop on April 9th from 2:30 to 5 p.m. in the Sorensen Student Center to plan new safety features — helping staff and students expand biking options. Daily Herald
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Provo Airport will break ground on Monday, April 14 to start a three-year expansion that begins with apron construction (to be completed by November) and will later expand the terminal from four to 10 gates. City and airport officials will host an open house at 5 p.m. that evening (introducing the master plan) as the terminal is scheduled to open by late 2028. ABC4
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ BYU's star point guard Egor Demin announced on April 8 that he will forgo his remaining college eligibility and join the 2025 NBA draft at a press conference at the Marriott Center Annex in Provo. His decision now prompts BYU to search for a new starting guard — he is viewed as a top prospect after strong play in March Madness. Deseret News
