BUSINESS NEWS

  • Dirtylicious Dance Fitness closed on March 31 after seven years offering dance classes following its exit from the Provo Recreation Center — CEO Erica Tanner said the loss of business led to the decision. Some instructors plan to host classes independently while the company sells remaining merchandise.  FOX 13
  • TGS Liquor Agency is permanently closing its Payson, Panguitch, Eureka and Richfield stores this week after new Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services (DABS) contract changes reduced profits and led to 35 job losses; local residents will now face longer drives to purchase liquor.  FOX 13

CULTURE NEWS

  • Emma Miller of ScenicView Academy joined Season 4 of Love on the Spectrum after auditioning from a flyer at her school + her casting was confirmed with an interview on Monday, April 6. Students gathered to watch her performance on screen, where her original song brought hope to the community.  Deseret News
  • On Tuesday, April 7, 2026, BYU marked its 150th anniversary with a time capsule event at Brigham Square where freshman Jane Hedengren placed her winning bib and jersey in the capsule. The box, to be opened in 50 years at the bicentennial, also holds items from faculty and alumni.  Daily Herald

  • Experts warn that instability in the Middle East may delay lower gas prices even though oil prices dropped nearly 15% after a temporary ceasefire; Utah gas remains high at $4.24 per gallon. Drivers are advised to use price-tracking apps + fuel rewards until market confidence returns.  KUTV

  • Since March 2024, Utah officials have tracked increases in nursing home residents discharged without safe housing (some sent to shelters or unknown destinations), prompting calls for stronger ties between care facilities and local homelessness services to protect older adults.  FOX 13

  • BYU guard Robert Wright III (who averaged 18.1 points last season after transferring from Baylor) is reportedly planning to enter the transfer portal, according to reports early Wednesday. His move could shift the team’s lineup as the transfer window remains open.  Deseret News
