- ➤ On April 6, President Russell M. Nelson announced 15 new temples including one in Spanish Fork, and Mayor Mike Mendenhall said residents had long expected this temple—Utah's 31st—to ease travel for worship and local services. The mayor added that the new temple will help keep more business and services within the city. ABC4
- ➤ Libraries across Utah County are celebrating National Library Week with events to boost reading and community engagement through Saturday — programs include new shared catalog services, story times and workshops. Provo, Orem and other local libraries are set to offer activities that help residents explore and use available resources. Daily Herald

- ➤ On Sunday, April 6th, President Russell M. Nelson announced 15 new temple locations worldwide during the 195th Annual General Conference — boosting the church’s total temples to 382. The new sites include Spanish Fork, Reynosa, Chorrillos, Rivera, Campo Grande, Porto, Uyo, San Jose del Monte, Nouméa, Liverpool, Caldwell, Flagstaff, Rapid City, Greenville and Norfolk. Deseret News

- ➤ New rankings from Research.com show that Utah Valley University is the best value college in Utah and ranks No. 6 among the top 10 best value colleges in the West for the 2024 to 2025 school year—while Utah Tech University follows at No. 7. ABC4

- ➤ The Utah State Tax Commission warned residents about a scam letter that claims unpaid taxes and threatens legal action — the letter is not aimed at a specific area but may affect Utah County residents. The commission urged people to verify any suspicious bill by calling its hotline before making any payments. Daily Herald
- ➤ U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin visited Salt Lake City Monday, April 7 to celebrate new MAHA laws passed by the Utah Legislature that ban fluoride in public water and restrict SNAP benefits and school food additives. The new bills allow parents to get fluoride from pharmacists—ensuring choice while aiming to protect children’s health. Deseret News

- ➤ Recent data from the CDC and University of Utah’s Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute show that in 2023 the U.S. fertility rate fell by 2.1% to 1.521 births per woman and that Utah’s rate dropped to 1.801, moving it from 4th to 10th nationally.
