CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Fraud texts claim you owe a toll and legal action will follow if unpaid, but UDOT confirmed it is a scam (do not click links) and advised anyone who paid by accident to contact their bank immediately. ABC4
- ➤ The Utah Department of Transportation warned that scam text messages and phone calls about unpaid toll violations have led to hundreds of inquiries and urged motorists to hang up, block the sender, and avoid sharing personal or payment details—officials confirmed UDOT does not use calls or texts to collect toll fees. - ➤ The Utah County Attorney’s Office pressed charges against Ernesto Munoz, 42, of Springville and Darryl Ashby, 54, of Fulton after police executed search warrants on March 24 and March 25 that recovered stolen checks, forged documents, and other items; Munoz faces nine counts while Ashby faces 18 counts in the 4th District Court in Provo—authorities said both men were arrested for felony forgery and theft. - ➤ Gov. Spencer Cox declared April as Dark Sky Month to boost astrotourism that shows Utah’s dark sky parks and communities.
