COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Elected officials, including American Fork Mayor Brad Frost, are joining Meals on Wheels deliveries from March 16 to 27 to bring warm meals and community connections to 1,000 to 1,200 homebound seniors in Utah, Wasatch, and Summit counties and help clear a waiting list of 500 seniors.  Daily Herald
  • Hot, dry conditions trigger an early wildfire season, and Gunnison Valley Fire Department urgently needs volunteer firefighters who receive free training for varied roles. Volunteers will aid in non-fire tasks as the department braces for a potentially tough season (training followed an agricultural burn in nearby Redmond).  FOX 13

CULTURE NEWS

  • Rainn Wilson will join Studio C (BYUtv) in various sketches for its Season 22 premiere on April 6, with a preview launching on YouTube on April 3. The special guest adds extra fun to the well-loved, family-friendly series that has engaged audiences for over 21 seasons.  Deseret News

  • UVU formed a partnership with Loveland Living Planet Aquarium yesterday in Draper to offer hands-on ocean study and research opportunities for undergraduates from various fields. The agreement expands learning options for local science students.  Deseret News

  • Yesterday morning, a controlled burn at an agricultural property near Lake Shore sent smoke billowing across Utah Valley—social media inquiries led Sgt. Raymond Ormond to confirm it was a planned burn.  Daily Herald
  • Former commissioner Camille Touton advised local water users to avoid partisan views of water issues and praised Gov. Spencer Cox’s conservation work. She urged residents to cut outside watering + take simple efficiency steps amid Colorado River negotiations and declining reservoir levels.  FOX 13

SPORTS NEWS

  • Hockey players with disabilities practice at Peaks Ice Arena today as members of the Utah Grizzlies Special Hockey Club join the Gold and Green teams. The team, ages 12 to 40, builds confidence on ice and in class with coaching from dedicated volunteers + donated equipment.  KUTV
  • BYU basketball ended its season with a 23-12 record after a first-round loss to Texas last Thursday. Injuries and a lack of supporting play hindered the Cougars from a deeper tournament run (despite high preseason hopes).  Deseret News
